Rules of the Association
1.
Any person desirous of becoming a member of this Association shall, on payment of a fee of £15.00, be enrolled as a member and thereupon become responsible for an annual subscription of £15.00 payable in advance of the thirty first day of December each year.

2. No member shall withdraw from the Association unless
he has given notice in writing at least one month before
the 1st January in each year.
3. The management of the business of the Association
shall be conducted by the Committee. The President
or the Chairman for the
time being of the Committee or other meetings of the
association shall have the casting vote. Five members
of the Committee to form a quorum.
4. Every member shall observe all bye-laws, regulations
and orders of the Committee for the government of
the Association, and for shows, held by or in connection
therewith, and
pay all fines and
forfeits which the Council shall, in the pursuance
of their powers, impose.
5. Annual Meetings of the Association shall be held
in Keswick or at other such place and time in
each succeeding year as the
Committee shall appoint.
Additional Rules of the Association as passed
at the Annual General Meeting of March
1992, March 1993 and March 2009.
6. The objects of the Association are the protection
and promotion of the Herdwick breed of sheep
and the interests of their breeders
especially in and around the Lake District in
the County of Cumbria.
7. Membership
a) Owners and keepers of flocks of Herdwick
sheep which are approved by an Annual Meeting
or Committee Meeting of the Association as being of satisfactory
quality shall be eligible for Flockmaster
membership. All flocks registered before March 1992 are
deemed already to be satisfactory.
b) Supporters of the objects of the Association
shall be eligible for Supporters Membership.
c) Annual Subscriptions and Life Compositions
for both classes of membership shall be determined
annually at the Annual Meeting.
8. Registration of tups:
Persons wishing to register Herdwick tups
in the Association's Flock Book shall
(a)
be Flockmaster members of the Association
and
(b) shall submit their tups for inspection to
an officer (normally the Secretary) of the
Association and at least one other member of an Inspection
panel
comprising not less than six people in total
which shall be appointed at the Annual Meeting;
(c) such inspections shall take
place on member's
farms within the Lake District National
Park or within ten miles from its boundary or at
the Fell Dales Show or at the Keswick or
Broughton-in-Fumess Tup Sales or at another place convenient to
the Secretary of the Association and in
that case
at the expense of the member seeking registration.
(d) Arrangement for registering tups at other
places can be made by consulting the secretary
and at the secretary's discretion as to
place and time.
